Birdsinging, Dance and Storytelling with a Tour of the Butler-Jaffe House
The 1971 Butler-Jaffe House in Indian Canyons is an exquisite showcase for second-wave midcentury modernism. Fifty years after its construction, the house provides Modernism Week 2021 attendees a unique chance to experience its architecture, design, and style alongside stories, birdsongs performed by singers and dancers from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, and modern movement choreographed and performed by the Nickerson-Rossi Dance company. The event embraces modernism, movement, and migration, and honors the local Native Americans whose land the house sits on.
